Jessyca Allen is a newlywed and a Midwestern soul living in Colorado. When she’s not designing or hand-lettering you can find her "rapping" with her hubs, eating fried pickles at a local BBQ joint, getting crazy with the boys she nannies, or day-dreaming about lunch while eating breakfast.
Several years ago Jessyca began wondering how God might use her creativity for His glory. Today, her calligraphy and graphic design business, Bezalel & Babel, is the space where pursuing Him and creating her art intersect.
IF YOU HAVE EVER FELT LIKE YOU DON’T MEASURE UP, THIS IS THE EPISODE FOR YOU
Jessyca loves creating beautiful pieces that point herself and others to God's character. Over the last year, she has poured heart and soul into starting her business. Now, looking back, she shares what it cost her to maintain that level of commitment. Also, in our conversation, she is transparent about the negative self-talk and comparison she has struggled with and what she’s done to combat both.
In this episode, Jessyca shares the struggle of deciding on a name for her business. Even though she has moments of doubt over the name she chose, she can’t dispute the impact it has had in helping her build meaningful relationships with potential customers.
Jessyca and I both love personality tests and we chat briefly about our favorites and what we’ve learned about ourselves along the way. Check out a few of our favorites below.
