Have you ever wondered about bringing on extra help but didn’t think you could afford it?
Our dreams are often so big that it’s not long before you realize that you can’t do it all on your own. But you’re not even paying yourself and you can’t imagine hiring someone else to help. However, that doesn’t change the fact that your hours are limited. So what about an intern?
IF YOU’RE SPENDING MORE TIME ON TASKS THAT DRAIN YOU RATHER THAN LIGHT YOU UP, THIS IS THE EPISODE FOR YOU!
Tasks like setting up and troubleshoot your email service provider, the Canva graphics that took twice as long as you planned (and you haven’t even posted them yet), or the half dozen YouTube videos you just watched about how to start a podcast, what’s the best hosting provider, and what equipment to buy, and now you’re feeling the weight of all the decisions you still need to make. (BTW, I can help you with that here.)
It could be any number of things preventing you from doing the ACTUAL work of your dream. But now those things are keeping you from what inspired you in the first place.
Eventually the thought will occur: “What if I had help?”
But the next question immediately follows: “Do I even have time to train and mentor someone else?” Or maybe you wonder how you’d ever hand off the busywork and trust someone else to do it right. Or you feel like you don’t know what you’re doing so how could you teach someone else to do it for you?
If you’ve had any of those thoughts, today’s episode is for you. I’m talking with two return guests about how to bring on an intern or two (or more down the line). They’re sharing everything they’ve learned along the way working with interns and some unanticipated benefits of including others even when it felt uncomfortable.
