As the coronavirus wreaks havoc on our world right now, it seems everyone has lost something. Even if you still have a job or at least some of your income, you’ve certainly lost the freedom you previously had to go about your life as you did before all this happened. For those who have lost a great deal more, or even if you’re just struggling with the fear of what could happen next, this episode is for you.
IF IT FEELS LIKE THE CORONAVIRUS HAS DESTROYED YOUR DREAM, THIS IS THE EPISODE FOR YOU.
First, I want to acknowledge the scary time we are living in. There is a process of grief I think we’ll all go through just having lived through this, and that’s okay. But I also want to straight out remind us that Jesus is still on the throne, our security is in Him, and none of this has surprised Him.
That’s part of the reason I wanted to air this interview with Stephanie May Wilson of the Girls Night Podcast this week instead of in June where I had penciled it in prior to our conversation. She has a story of loss that came at time when her life was already in transition, as a newlywed, and while it’s not the same as what we’re going through right now with this pandemic, the lessons are incredibly relevant.
In this conversation, you’ll learn:
How sometimes our dreams have to die in order to be reborn in a new and better form
How difficult circumstances draw us closer to the people we’re experiencing them with
That we don’t always grasp how close God is to us in trouble, until we look back
That despite the voices saying otherwise, you might already have what you need to pursue your dream
You’ll see how we ought to redefine “job security”
How desperate times can be an opportunity to take the next step toward your dream, and
How greater constraints or boundaries can actually increase your creativity
I love that God saw fit to have Stephanie and I talk this month and that her story would help us make a connection to what’s happening in our world today. And I pray that you will walk away from this episode with a reminder that He is with you in whatever loss or fear you’re experiencing right now and that this might be just the right time for you to dive into your dream.
